Artist Statement

I grew up mostly wandering with my younger brother outside my parents restaurant in a small southern town because they couldn't just leave us alone at home at such a tender age. A lot of my daydreaming and inspirations come from those memories of exploring the almost dilapidated motel and forest that lay beyond the eatery. We would play with the pill bugs and engage in hooliganery much to the dismay of our mother. I choose to use that sense of adventure and wonder as a basis for a lot of my imagery.

Accompanying that work, I also explore a realm of pathos and mystery through individuals that reflect my own unease and anxieties. The act of creating these images are a way of externalizing and exploring my own worries as it becomes a therapeutic experience in the end.
